took the train into new york
ate for two days straight
my mother turned back into an irish country woman in the Big City
who had to peer into every shop window in amazement
and fear
"is that... a wig store?!"
"it's a thrift shop!"
she pressed her face, cupped in her two gloved hands
against the glass front of every restaurant
leaving marks
it took us three times as long to walk anywhere
at Columbia's nursing school, they told us
about their High Fidelity Adult Mannequins
now the only part of the three hour presentation i am able
to grasp ahold of
proudly announced,
"they sweat and blink and talk"
oh man.
i took a robotics course half a year ago now,
our final project coincided with the freshness of spring,
new shoots, seedlings
we had bunnies out near our field
"would you raise your child with a human-imitation robot to be its best friend?"
