It's July
The days are long
stretching from one side of the sun to the other.

Moving slowly from the beginning of the month
with lights in our eyes
to the end, looking towards fall
when cool breezes will make us
wrap up.

It's July
the middle of the heat
the moment before the plunge into a pool
or an ice cold glass.

We wait for it to end.
We wait for it to start.
